I am really excited about Father's Day this year! I love giving gifts, in fact I am much better at giving than receiving (don't go there!). I like getting creative and surprising Papa Lusty. However, this year we're definitely on a budget. I don't want to get him just any gifts since this is Papa Lusty's first Father's Day. I've given my own dad gifts ranging from golf balls and clubs to restaurant gift cards to books to cds to handmade cards and gifts. My dad could probably care less what I give him, he's pretty much the most easygoing person ever. Papa Lusty is much like my father, he would just like to be together on Sunday.
Since Papa Lusty reads this blog, I can't give away what I got for him this year, but I'll let you know if he likes his gifts. One thing I can tell you is that one gift is that we're going away Saturday-Sunday. We're headed to St. Augustine on a little road trip--what better to do than drink from the Fountain of Youth with our own youngster in tow?
If you're still looking for a plethora of ideas for Father's Day, check out Amazon's Father's Day page. It offers great gift ideas at various price points. If money is not an issue, buy him a Kindle, Nook or iPad and put some kids books on it so he can read to the kid(s), take a helicopter tour of your city followed by a nice lunch/dinner, or buy him the Big Green Egg grill and have a bbq that day. Bloomingdale's is also having a big private sale. ABC News also offers some unique gift ideas as well, from ear buds to pork barrel bbq sauce. If you're budget-minded and don't necessarily want to get a tangible gift, you could also consider taking a day trip to a nearby place. No hotel stay required. Or if you want to go away for the weekend, check Travelzoo and other travel sites for deals. Consider planning a picnic on the beach, in a park, wherever really. Make a nice dinner at home and just relax together as a family.
Really, the gift choices are endless, and you know the men in your life best. What's most important is to show your gratitude, and for your children to do the same, for all that these extraordinary men do everyday to help take care of you and your family.. And remember that spending time together is priceless.
